What are your favorite little-known places to visit in the Smokies? Places where you can avoid the crowds in the most visited national park in the United States. Share them here!

Roaring Fork Rd

It's not all that secret, but I think everyone goes to Cades Cove. My son and I had a picnic by a stream and only saw one or two cars. It is a one way one lane road, but we never had anyone in front or behind us. When we stopped at viewing areas there were a few people around. It was very peaceful and right in downtown Gatlinburg.

I love it when I can visit the Smokies and not feel "crowded" by other visitors. I agree that Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a great place to visit without the crowds. You don't get to see as many old homesites as in Cades Cove, but there are some great hikes that start off of Roaring Fork. I'm so glad you had a great visit!
