Noah "Bud" Ogle Cabin

Published in : National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Located on Airport Road just outside of Gatlinburg, The Noah Ogle cabin is a great little stop if you want to experience a taste of mountain life without traveling all the way to Cades Cove .

In addition to the two room house and barn, there is an easy .75 mile loop trail through the woods that takes you past a small mill. The trail is great for families with small children. The estimated walking time for the trail is half an hour, but with our three kiddos (ages 8, 5, and 3) it took more like 45 minutes. There's virtually no elevation change but there are lots of rocks and tree roots, so strollers are out. My children also loved the huge boulder (maybe 8' x 12') along the trail. Be sure to get one of the brochures provided at the parking lot (for a $ .50 charge) because there's lots of interesting information about mountain living to note as you walk the trail. You can easily see the house site and walk the trail in less than an hour. If you continue along Airport Rd once you leave the cabin you'll also find the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail – one of my favorite driving tours in the mountains.
