Ma's Kitchen

If you enjoy Southern mountain cooking, or if you just want to broaden your horizons by trying something new, you need to try Ma's Kitchen restaurant in the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community. Tucked behind Ogle's Broom shop near Ownby's Woodcrafts at 680 Glades road, Ma's Kitchen has offered true Southern cooking to visitors to the Smokies for over 10 years.

The restaurant is open during lunch hours from 10:30 am til 2 pm Monday through Saturday. Each item on the menu is prepared from scratch daily, including several delicious desserts. Ma's Kitchen specializes in country cooking like meatloaf, real mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, chicken and dumplings and fried green tomatoes. One of my favorites from Ma's Kitchen is the homemade lemonade they offer in the summer. If I've ever had lemonade as good as theirs I can't remember it.

Ma's Kitchen is a frequent stop for local artists, Gatlinburg fire and police department and city hall workers. It is also a favorite of the tourists who stop there. I like to call ahead and order a hamburger or deli sandwich to go and take it into the National Park to eat. And although I usually forego dessert when I'm eating out, the desserts at Ma's Kitchen are hard for me to resist. If you would like to call in an order to Ma's Kitchen the phone number is 865/430-7799.
