Cades Cove Riding Stables

Published in : National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Cades Cove Riding Stables offers several alternatives to touring the loop by car. Located just outside the entrance to the loop, the riding stable is open April through October and has guided horseback riding, carriage rides and hayrides around Cades Cove loop.

Horseback Riding - Guided horseback rides are very popular among visitors to Cades Cove. Guided horseback rides are on a first-come, first served basis and last about one hour.  You do not need any experience at horseback riding to enjoy this excursion. The horses are used to inexperienced riders and are very gentle. Cost is $20 plus tax per person.

Carriage Rides - This is a unique way to experience the beauty of Cades Cove. What better way to take a trip back in time to a simpler way of life. The carriage holds up to six people, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Rides are available on a first come, first served basis. Cost is $7.50 plus tax per person

Hayrides - Most popular during the fall, hayrides around Cades Cove loop are a great choice for school and church groups as well as families. Hayrides are offered every two hours from 10 am to 8 pm daily and require advance reservations. During the fall hayrides are scheduled more often. The rides take a little more than an hour and you can choose a guided tour with a park ranger or an unguided tour. If you decide to take a hayride during the fall, I recommend booking your ride several weeks or even a few months in advance. The cost is as follows:

Unguided - $6.00 plus tax per person
Guided - $8.00 plus tax per person - available only on Mondays and Saturdays at 6 pm
