I visited Dollywood last weekend for the express purpose of listening to the Zambian Vocal Group one more time before the Festival of Nations at Dollywood ends. Dollywood has a great variety of very talented musicians and artists at the Festival of Nations this year, but my favorite by far is the Zambian Vocal Group.

From my understanding the men who sing in the group met as orphans and are from several different tribes in Zambia. The group was formed with the guidance of a missionary to Zambia and today the group performs to raise money for a school in Zambia. The children who attend the school are all orphans as well, and the school receives no funding except what is raised by the Zambian Vocal Group as well as private donations.

The Zambian Vocal Group sings a variety of Christian hymns as well as songs in several languages native to Zambia. They sing a capella and their harmonies and rhythms in several of the songs are amazing. Each concert is different since they choose the songs from a repertoire of about 700 songs. If you have a chance to visit Dollywood before the Festival of Nations ends I encourage you to plan time in your schedule to listen to this group.
